Circle for Sharing Indigenous Voices
A Message From
Dr. Alanaise Ferguson
I am Dr. Alanaise Ferguson, an Associate Professor, Registered Psychologist, and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health, Healing, and Community Revitalization in the Department of Community, Culture, and Global Studies at UBC Okanagan.
I am a member of the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation in Manitoba and live on Westbank First Nation where I conduct research in Indigenous languages and healing practices, and Indigenous psychologies. I am an Anishinaabe language learner, committed to collaboration with knowledge holders and researchers in Indigenous languages revitalization, and mental health. I strive to centre our peoples’ voices, speaking beside them throughout my life’s work in health and healing.

The pihtikwê Podcast
Visits with First Nations Psychologists
Led by Dr. Alanaise Ferguson, Dr. Holly Graham, and Dr. Brenda Restoule. This project aims to centre the voices of Indigenous experts and leaders working in the mental wellness field to promote collective learning and mobilize knowledge to support Indigenous well-being. The central theme in this work is healing from trauma and reducing addictions. Indigenous psychologists and leaders in the mental wellness field will share their stories, knowledge, and lived experiences.
